SonLight Curriculum Overview SonLight Preschool provides a loving, safe environment that encourages independence. Each teacher develops the classroom curriculum according to the children’s needs and interests. New concepts are introduced to the children in fun and creative ways. Our curriculum allows us to provide for your child’s developmental needs. Parents will receive an assessment of their child’s progress twice in a school year. Our classrooms are set up to meet the needs of all children. We provide an environment that is conducive to learning. Our goal is to show children that learning is fun. A typical day will include language development, math concepts, experimentation, exploration, reading, music, art, social studies, and physical exercise. Children will learn about God during our “Bible Fun” time. Stories will be told with puppets, props, music, and art. Children will leave SonLight Preschool with a foundation of God’s love for them.
Children will learn:
How to talk to God through prayer
How to problem solve
How to develop positive relationships
How to take care of God’s World
Skills needed to have a successful school experience
How to develop social competence
The importance of hand-washing
Our program values safety. Every classroom has two teachers to provide for your child’s needs. Our low staff-child ratios provide one-on-one learning for every child. SonLight encourages independence and growth. Every child is given the opportunity for success as they explore their classroom. We follow Kentucky Early Childhood Standards. The Standards assist the teacher in planning experiences that will promote children’s development. It’s a guideline that will ensure that the activities, materials, and experiences provided for children will cover all developmental areas. We want your child’s first school experience to be a great school experience!
